The Fighting Irish has a new meaning for Jeremiyah Love and Jadarian Price this week

TEMPE — Being on the same field is nothing new for NFL rookies Jeremiyah Love and Jadarian Price.

During their three years at Notre Dame from 2023-25, the duo racked up 41 career games together as a formidable tandem in the backfield.

Their relationship runs deep from all that time spent on the grass and is something they both cherish as they begin their respective NFL careers.

But for the first time since they linked up in South Bend, the two running backs will be on opposite sidelines when Love’s Arizona Cardinals host Price’s Seattle Seahawks. From teammates to NFC West rivals.

So, while they have a ton of love for one another and it will be great to catch up postgame, all that gets pushed to the side for four quarters.

“He’s still my brother at the end of the day, but we’re preparing to go to war,” Love said Thursday.

And of course, any intel is fair game.

“They’ve been asking me. … J don’t have many weaknesses,” Love said when asked if Cardinals defenders have talked him about Price. “If you’re going to get him, you got to get him the first series he’s getting the ball. Once he gets the ball, he can get rolling. It’s hard to stop him.

“He’s real fast. He can make a move on you. You can’t really get him in pass pro. You got to get him early before he starts rolling. I’ve been telling the guys to respect him. He’s a good player.”

The biggest weakness for Price might be his usage rather than any physical limitations. Price ran the rock 10 times for 52 yards and caught two passes (six targets) for six yards in his NFL debut last week. He saw 24 snaps.

Those reps, however, are expected to increase as the season goes on and could start this week in Arizona.

Offensive coordinator Brian Fleury told reporters this week the rookie has earned more reps moving forward and his limited usage was more to do with him not playing in the preseason and wanting to ease him into things.

As for Love, his role is expected to be similar to what it was last week in a timeshare with Tyler Allgeier. Rotating guys keeps legs fresh, but if one gets hot, all bets are off.

Regardless of playing time, it’ll be something to remember — and just the first divisional chapter of many — for the duo and the Golden Domers watching from afar.

And of course, a postgame reunion is going to happen.

“It’ll be special. We even talked about maybe swapping jerseys or something if we can,” Price told reporters this week. “I know a lot of Notre Dame fans and Notre Dame people will look forward to that moment. We’ll definitely get a picture.”
