Suns’ Luke Kennard questionable ahead of season-opener vs. Trail Blazers

Phoenix Suns guard Luke Kennard (left knee tendinopathy) was listed as questionable ahead of Wednesday’s season-opening game against the Portland Trail Blazers.

Additionally, center Mark Williams (left shoulder surgery) was listed as out as part of Tuesday’s NBA injury report.

Kennard left the Suns’ preseason game against the Chicago Bulls on Oct. 14 with a knee issue after landing awkwardly on a drive to the basket. He missed the Suns’ preseason finale against the Utah Jazz on Friday.

Head coach Jordan Ott said Tuesday that Kennard was a full participant in practice and was trending toward playing against the Trail Blazers.

Kennard enters his first season in Phoenix after signing a two-year, $13 million deal with the Suns this offseason. He led the NBA last season in 3-point percentage (47.8%), a quality that will be crucial to the Suns’ season after Phoenix traded 3-point specialists Grayson Allen and Royce O’Neale to the Charlotte Hornets.

Trail Blazers’ injury report vs. Suns

For the Trail Blazers, forward Deni Avdija (right ankle soreness) and center Micah Potter (illness) are questionable for Wednesday’s game.

Guards Shaedon Sharpe (right meniscus surgery) and Chris Youngblood (left ankle soreness), along with center Branden Carlson (concussion protocol), were ruled out.

Suns-Trail Blazers will tip off from the Moda Center in Portland at 7 p.m. MST.
