Free agent wide receiver Zay Jones has signed a contract with the Arizona Cardinals, according to multiple reports.
Jones, 31, has played in nine NFL seasons, including a previous stint with the Cardinals in 2024 and 2025, which was also the last regular-season appearance he made. In 2026, he was released by the Houston Texans after appearing in one preseason game.
The Cardinals reportedly also worked out wide receivers Ronnie Bell, James Proche and former Arizona State Sun Devil Xavier Guillory, ultimately zeroing in on Jones.
Jones’ signing comes after wide receiver Jalen Brooks was lost for the season with a wrist injury, a blow to the position group that was already depleted after Arizona traded away Marvin Harrison Jr.
In his previous 19 games with the Cardinals, Jones recorded 20 receptions for 267 yards and no touchdowns. In 2024, he was suspended five games following a league review of his 2023 arrest on a domestic battery charge. In 2025, he suffered a season-ending torn Achilles in Week 10.
Jones’ career-best season came in 2022 with the Jacksonville Jaguars when he caught 82 passes for 823 yards and five touchdowns. His career numbers of 307 receptions, 3,295 receiving yards and 18 touchdowns provide the Cardinals’ receiving corps with needed experience — only Trey McBride and Kendrick Bourne have surpassed those numbers in their careers.
