The Arizona Cardinals made their trade sending quarterback Jacoby Brissett to the Baltimore Ravens official on Friday.

Arizona sent a 2027 fifth-round pick along with Brissett to get back a 2027 fourth-round pick and a 2028 seventh-round pick, Cardinals general manager Monti Ossenfort confirmed on Arizona Sports’ Wolf & Luke.

The deal comes after Arizona benched Brissett as he struggled during Sunday’s game at the Dallas Cowboys, and quarterback Gardner Minshew led an improbable comeback for the win.

Minshew was named the Cardinals’ starter after the game, and rookie Carson Beck was promoted to the backup role after he had only been the emergency third-stringer to that point.

Baltimore was pressed to add a quarterback after Lamar Jackson and Tyler Huntley both suffered significant injuries, leaving undrafted rookie Joe Fagnano as the starter in Thursday night’s 33-10 Ravens loss to the Jacksonville Jaguars.

“Really, it ended up being an opportunity for each of us,” Ossenfort said. “Those talks continued Monday and Tuesday and really came to a point where it was a situation where we felt that we could help them, they could help us and ultimately the deal came together.”

Arizona reworked Brissett’s contract to convert half of his remaining $5.4 million for the season into a signing bonus, leaving Baltimore to pay only the remaining $2.43 million to help facilitate the deal, according to ESPN’s Field Yates.

The quarterback trade is the second major in-season deal for Arizona this year, after Marvin Harrison Jr. and a sixth-round pick were traded to the Houston Texans for a second- and seventh-round pick.

Impact defenders Josh Sweat and Budda Baker are viewed as other pieces Arizona could move ahead of the NFL trade deadline on Tuesday.

“People say there’s a lot of calls, and I think a lot of the times it’s more chatter,” Ossenfort said. “There’s a lot of talk and sometimes there’s action behind it, and sometimes there’s not. Teams can call and ask, but until teams get serious … a lot of this chatter isn’t real.

“We’ll see what happens here. We’re happy with the team that we have, but if there’s an opportunity to improve our team, we will certainly jump at it like we’ve shown we will.”

Swapping a fourth / fifth for Jacoby and getting a seventh is a pretty good steal ... deal.

What a total mess. This should have never happened from the beginning. Monti needs to be replaced immediately. I guess a 4th is more than expected but I really don’t want Monti to make the decision on who gets picked up with that.

They got more than I thought they would, An extra 4th will definitely come in handy, hopefully Monti isn’t the one making these picks though.
