Report: Arizona Cardinals sign safety Rashad Johnson to three-year deal

Mar 12, 2013, 1:33 AM | Updated: 1:47 am

The Arizona Cardinals didn’t make quite the same splash as divisional foes San Francisco and Seattle pulled off Monday, but the team agreed to terms on a new contract with safety Rashad Johnson.

According to Kent Somers of the Arizona Republic
, the deal is for three years.

The newly-signed safety took to his Twitter account to confirm the report.

Johnson, who was selected by the Cardinals in the third round of the 2009 draft out of Alabama, has played in at least 15 games each of the last three seasons.

In 2011, Johnson set career-highs in starts (9) and tackles (50). This past season, he had only 20 tackles but recorded an interception return for a touchdown in Arizona’s Week 15 win over the Detroit Lions.

The move comes three days after the team released 12-year veteran safety Adrian Wilson.
