Marcin Gortat is no longer a Sun but he’s still got an opinion on the Suns.
What’s it about today?
Gortat went to Twitter and defended former teammate Markieff Morris, who played his first two seasons in the NBA alongside the current Washington Wizards center.
Paola Boivin’s column in The Arizona Republic that led the sports page Saturday with the headline, “You win at last, Markieff” rubbed the Polish Machine the wrong way.
“Congratulations, Markieff Morris, you win,” Boivin wrote. “You’ve put the Suns in the challenging position of having to trade you, and they will probably have to package young talent to do it.”
Gortat took issue with Boivin’s criticism and acceptance that it’s time to trade the embattled power forward.
Here is Gortat’s string of tweets showing his support for Morris.
@paulcoro @PaolaBoivin I Dont know who u r lady to say this like that???MM is talented player and just because he ain’t playing great now

@paulcoro @PaolaBoivin he not suppose to do “towel thing” ….clearly he’s frustration ! U have no idea how it’s to compete at this level. — Marcin Gortat (@MGortat) December 26, 2015

@paulcoro @PaolaBoivin it’s his fault. !!! He could play better just as another 14 players on the roster! — Marcin Gortat (@MGortat) December 26, 2015
The column ran two days after Morris was suspended two games for throwing a towel and lashing out at coach Jeff Hornacek during a loss to the Nuggets on Wednesday. Morris said it wasn’t his intention to hit Hornacek with the towel and apologized.
