Aaron Gordon’s dunk will make your jaw fall off your face

For a long while now, the NBA struggled to breathe life into its signature All-Star event.

Until Saturday, reigning champion Zach LaVine had it relatively easy. But when former Arizona Wildcat and current Orlando Magic forward Aaron Gordon stood up to the dunk contest favorite, one of the event’s best back-and-forths in its history began.

Gordon eventually lost the contest but he had the most jaw-dropping dunk, a signature crouching slam over the Magic mascot.

Gordon’s other best dunks came with help from the Orlando mascot.

Ultimately, LaVine won with a final between-the-legs windup from just inside the free throw line.

NASH GIVES AN ASSIST

Detroit Pistons big man Andre Drummond dialed up former Phoenix Suns point guard Steve Nash to give him a little assist with his dunk contest performance. Nash got out of his front-row seat and flipped Drummond an ally-oop lob with his feet.

It’s been 11 long years since Nash last appeared as a prop in the dunk contest.

In 2005, Nash helped Phoenix teammate Amare Stoudemire out by taking a header off the glass and setting up the 6’10 forward with an assist.
