Among the Arizona Cardinals, players like Patrick Peterson and Tyrann Mathieu get a lot of praise, but which player isn’t getting the love they deserve?
CBS sports writer Pete Prisco’s recent list of the most underrated player on each team named the Cardinals’ Deone Bucannon as the deserving of a little more respect.
Now that he’s made the move to linebacker in their scheme, he has developed into a nice player. He might have struggled in coverage as a safety, but he fits in their scheme as a linebacker. He can run and he gets to the football.
Since being drafted in the first round of the 2014 NFL Draft, the safety-turned-linebacker has added to the stingy Arizona defense. In his career, Bucannon has 193 tackles with three sacks and an interception that was returned for a touchdown.
Last season, the Washington State product led the Cardinals with 112 tackles, was fourth on the team with three sacks and second with three forced fumbles.
Baltimore Ravens’ nose tackle Brandon Williams received the most underrated player in the NFL honor.
