Cardinals rookie Sherman passing the test in training camp

When the Arizona Cardinals selected fullback Anthony Sherman in the fifth round of the 2011 NFL Draft they got themselves a true fullback who likes to hit people.

Sherman has done plenty of that in camp and, as he told Sports 620 KTAR’s Doug and Wolf, he expected pretty much everything that’s been thrown at him — on the field.

“Coming from college to the NFL, it’s just the business aspect of it and how everything…you’re responsible for what you do,” he said of what’s been the biggest surprise. “You can control how you do everything. In college it was more, they’d yell at you, get on you and make you do the things they wanted, but now you just have to handle your business and you’re free to do whatever.”

Sherman has done a nice job, though. He won’t often show up in the box score as a runner, but he threw some nice blocks and forced a fumble on special teams in the preseason opener last Thursday. He’s also received ample praise from head coach Ken Whisenhunt.
