Arizona Cardinals tight end Trey McBride has cleared concussion protocol and was all set to play Sunday against the San Francisco 49ers, head coach Jonathan Gannon said Friday.

However, the Cardinals changed McBride to questionable with a ribs injury on Saturday. He is expected to play, per ESPN’s Adam Schefter late Saturday.

McBride’s possible return would be a welcome sign for Arizona after it struggled to find an offensive rhythm without him in a 42-14 loss to the Washington Commanders in Week 4.

The tight end has 14 catches for 122 yards over three games played.

Defensive lineman Khyiris Tonga “had a really good day” on Thursday and will practice on Friday, Gannon added. Arizona will continue to monitor his progress up to Sunday.

Kelvin Beachum missed the Cardinals’ Week 3 matchup against the Detroit Lions with a hamstring injury but was active for last week’s game against the Washington Commanders. The offensive lineman was held from practicing on Wednesday with a hamstring injury before making his limited return on Thursday.

Kicker Matt Prater is doing well after some soreness popped up earlier in the week. Gannon told reporters that Prater will let the team know if he can go or not in the coming days.

Likely relatedly, the Cardinals on Wednesday signed former New England Patriots kicker Chad Ryland to the practice squad. Ryland appeared all season for New England in 2023 and was a fourth-round pick in 2023. The rookie went 16-of-25 on field goals and made all but one of 25 point-after attempts.

For the 49ers, star linebacker Fred Warner (sprained ankle) and tight end George Kittle (ribs) are both expected to suit up.
