Cardinals-49ers injury report: Brock Purdy questionable to play against Cardinals

Arizona Cardinals rookie cornerback Will Johnson (groin) is doubtful for a Week 3 matchup against the San Francisco 49ers after missing practice on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday.

San Francisco 49ers quarterback Brock Purdy remained a limited participant after returning to practice on Wednesday. He was listed as limited with a shoulder injury designation. San Francisco coach Kyle Shanahan said on Wednesday that Purdy has a ‘chance’ to suit up on Sunday. He was listed as questionable on the Friday injury report.

“I thought he had a good week. Hopefully we can get him up for the game,” head coach Kyle Shanahan said on Friday.

“I think it’s highly unlikely that he would start but just trying to see where he’s at. Trying to see if he can be a two or emergency three.”

Four Cardinals players were listed as limited practice participants, with a pair of offensive linemen Paris Johnson Jr. and Will Hernandez dealing with respective knee injuries and tight end Tip Reiman still managing a foot injury that sidelined him in Arizona’s Week 2 win over Carolina.

Cornerback Max Melton remained limited with a knee issue.

All four are questionable for Week 3 in the Bay.

Linebacker Cody Simon (concussion), who like Reiman missed action against the Panthers last week, was a full participant as well as defensive lineman Dante Stills. Offensive lineman Kelvin Beachum was a full participant after being limited on Wednesday’s practice for rest.

DT Calais Campbell took a rest day on Friday.

For the 49ers, WRs Jauan Jennings and Jordan Watkins both missed practice on Friday. Watkins was ruled out for Sunday’s contest with calf injury, while Jennings is reportedly out with injuries to his ankle and shoulder.

Guard Spencer Burford (Knee) has been ruled out and guard Connor Colby (groin) is listed as questionable.
