Chris Paul teases Mikal Bridges for ‘trash’ showing at charity softball game

Suns' Chris Paul joked after winning JaVale McGee’s Water For Life Charity Softball Game MVP award that Mikal Bridges was the weakest link.

Phoenix Suns point guard Chris Paul had stepped into the batter’s box with a set approach at JaVale McGee’s sixth annual Water For Life Charity Softball Game on Wednesday: Aim for Mikal Bridges.

Paul joked during his press conference after winning the game’s MVP award that Bridges was the weakest link on the diamond at Chase Field.

“I knew if I hit it where he was I had a chance,” Paul said.

Paul hit two home runs, one of which comically bounced off Bridges’ glove in center field and over the fence. A true Jose Canseco moment.

The point guard said he thought since Bridges is getting his own day at an Arizona Diamondbacks game in August after winning a bet with the team, the wing would think his skills must translate.

“Obviously, it didn’t,” Paul said.

“Not at all,” McGee followed with a big smile on his face.

“Mikal was trash,” Paul finished, finally cracking a laugh after keeping a straight face for most of the answer.

Bridges was distraught on Twitter afterward.

The event benefited McGee’s Juglife Foundation, which promotes a healthy lifestyle by encouraging people to drink more water.

Suns players including Devin Booker, Cam Payne and Cam Johnson were in attendance, as was Arizona Cardinals receiver DeAndre Hopkins and future hall of famer Larry Fitzgerald.

Bridges was mic’d up for the event, which at the very least caught him making contact.
