Chase Field filled with long lines, concessions issues at home opener

The Arizona Diamondbacks had their home opener on Friday night, the first regular season game fans were back for at Chase Field since September 2019.

The game had an attendance number of 19,385.

Fans had to deal with abnormally long concession lines with even longer wait times.

The @Dbacks home opener @ChaseField was the worst experience I've ever had at a baseball game. Spent $200 on 2 tickets that were supposed to be "all you can eat" seats and spent 2+hours in line waiting for food I had to pay for.

The concourse being packed, of course, would not be keeping social distancing in mind.

To call the operations at the @Dbacks game today a fail would be an incredible understatement. Long lines with no distancing. No one at @ChaseField enforcing the mask policy. No concession stands working right. I love the team but it has been a complete disaster. Shame on @Dbacks

Fans also complained of the ballpark’s mobile ordering service having lengthy delays.

@ChaseField @Dbacks @DHallDbacks The mobile food orders via the ballpark app are charging to cards but the orders are getting canceled. There is a huge line of people at guest relations for this reason and nobody knows what is going on.

The D-backs had originally planned for 12,000 fans at the ballpark before expanding to up to 20,000 for Chase Field’s first three homestands.

The D-backs confirmed there were technical issues with the payment systems and were working to resolve the issue.
