Blaze Alexander hit a two-out, bases-loaded double as part of a three-run 10th inning as the Arizona Diamondbacks beat the Minnesota Twins 5-2 on Saturday.

After the Twins tied the game in the eighth, courtesy of a two-run single by first baseman Kody Clemens, the Diamondbacks and Twins went to extras following a scoreless ninth.

Gabriel Moreno was able to break through for Arizona in the 10th, knocking in the go-ahead run with a two-out infield single off Twins righty Cole Sands to give the D-backs a 3-2 lead. Alexander was able to add two important insurance runs with a line drive off the right field wall to make it a three-run game.

With the win, the Diamondbacks got within two games of the final Wild Card spot in the National League following the New York Mets’ loss against the Texas Rangers on Saturday. The San Francisco Giants entered into a tie with the Mets following the loss prior to their game against the Los Angeles Dodgers.

Diamondbacks’ next game

The Diamondbacks wrap up their six-game road trip against the Twins at Target Field on Sunday. First pitch is at 11:10 a.m. MST.

Torey survived another brain fart. He put in two pinch hitters in the same inning for Alek Thomas (who had earlier hit a tremendous home run) and Jake McCarthy, and, of course, Torey's pinch hitters both struck out.
