Report: Suns talking trades to move into 1st round of NBA Draft

The Phoenix Suns are reportedly discussing trades focused on moving into the first round of the 2026 NBA Draft, according to NBA insider Jake Fischer.

“Sources say Phoenix is talking trades that could net a first-round pick in this draft,” Fischer wrote in The Stein Line newsletter Wednesday night. “The Suns are currently only guaranteed to make one pick next week: No. 47 in Wednesday’s second round.”

Arizona Sports’ John Gambadoro later added that maneuvering into the first round is “not a focus for the Suns.”

“No conversations about moving into the first round as of now,” Gambadoro reported. “Does not mean they wouldn’t do it if someone offers, but not a focus.”

Suns’ recent history of NBA Draft maneuvering

Phoenix hasn’t sat idle in back-to-back drafts, moving up and down the order before landing on its guys. In 2024, the Suns nabbed Ryan Dunn after trading down from No. 22 to No. 28.

They used some of the draft capital they got back in a second-round trade-up to select Oso Ighodaro at No. 40.

Last year, Phoenix traded away a pair of future second-rounders for the No. 36 pick. The Suns then flipped the pick and two more future second-round picks for Rasheer Fleming at No. 31.

Phoenix also dealt Nos. 52 and 59 to take Koby Brea at No. 41.
