Phoenix Suns last in ESPN’s NBA Future Power Rankings

The future is bleak for the Phoenix Suns, according to the latest NBA Future Power Rankings by ESPN.

The Suns come in at the bottom of the barrel, 30th out of 30 NBA teams.

It was a drop in the rankings by 11 spots from the last time ESPN conducted the survey and anchored by poor rankings in four out of the five categories evaluated: players, money, draft and management.

Valley fans can take solace in being part of the sixth ranked market in the NBA, which was by far the most positive evaluation score for the team.

Here’s how Bobby Marks described the Suns’ current and future outlook:

It was only three years ago when Phoenix ranked third in the FPR and had a solid foundation of young players and future draft assets. That foundation no longer exists, thanks largely to the Kevin Durant and Bradley Beal trades. Both players are no longer on the roster, and though Phoenix isn’t in financial purgatory and still has All-Star Devin Booker, its path back to relevancy is unclear. The Suns have no tradeable firsts in the next seven years and have $23 million in dead money on their books in the next five years. One positive is that Phoenix has shifted away from building around multiple high-priced veterans to trading for former first-round picks Jalen Green, Mark Williams and selecting Khaman Maluach in June’s draft.

What NBA teams were in the top of bottom of the 2025 ESPN NBA Future Power Rankings

The top ranked teams on the list are the Oklahoma City Thunder, Houston Rockets and New York Knicks.

The New Orleans Pelicans and Chicago Bulls are the ranked 29th and 28th, respectively.
