ASU alum Lloyd Carrington’s sensational interception

Arizona State alum Lloyd Carrington and All-Pro Josh Norman as lock-down corners for the 2016 Washington Redskins sure does have a nice ring to it.

Maybe that statement is getting a bit ahead of ourselves, but on Tuesday Carrington made an eye-opening interception that could help his case toward making Washington’s roster.

According to Mike Jones of the Washington Post, Carrington made some serious impressions on his teammates with his interception.

However, the catch of the day belonged to rookie cornerback Lloyd Carrington, who displayed jaw-dropping leaping ability as he turned, jumped and pulled a high Nate Sudfeld pass out of the air and hung on while crashing to the ground.

Every member of the defense on the field and sidelines erupted in cheers and ran to the end zone to mob Carrington, an undrafted rookie out of Arizona State. Defensive end Ricky Jean Francois yelled “I like that,” mocking (Kirk) Cousins’s catch phrase.

In three seasons at Arizona State, Carrington had 139 tackles, 12 passes defended, eight tackles for loss, four sacks and three interceptions. One of the interceptions was returned 58-yards to help put away the No. 8 ranked Notre Dame Fighting Irish.
