ASU QB Manny Wilkins hurdles NAU defender, runs for big gain

The Arizona State offense was fast and efficient to start the season against Northern Arizona.

In just over two minutes, the Sun Devils began the game with a seven-play, 44-yard drive that ended with quarterback Manny Wilkins rushing for a touchdown in his first start.

After that promising start, however, the Sun Devils stalled. The following drives would end in an interception, punt, punt and turnover on downs.

Still holding the lead, ASU needed a spark. Luckily for them, their new young guns were ready.

Wilkins threw a strike to heralded freshman wide receiver N’Keal Harry, who had a nifty spin move to help him get a 20-yeard gain.

Three plays later, Wilkins went on a run and hurdled an NAU defender for a gain of 28 yards.

Harry’s spin and Wilkins’ hurdle led to an ASU field goal and a seven-point lead at the half.
