TEMPE — Arizona State cornerback Rodney Bimage Jr. left the game against West Virginia after he was motionless on the ground following a big hit.

Bimage came up to make a play on a swing pass and led with his head, immediately going to the ground motionless after making the tackle. Head coach Kenny Dillingham immediately called for trainers.

The cart and stretchers were prepared to take the redshirt freshman away, but he elected to walk slowly off the field and straight to the locker room with the help of trainers.

Dillingham said in his post game press conference that his first question was if he made the tackle.

“I’m like, ‘yeah, you did Rodney,” Dillingham said.

ASU defensive end Clayton Smith notably gestured to the crowd and team to celebrate when Bimage Jr. got up.

Bimage is viewed as ASU’s third cornerback behind starters Keith Abney II and Javan Robinson. He has 12 tackles and two passes defensed on the season, appearing in all 10 games.

Purdue transfer Nyland Green, who has three tackles in nine games this season, is the next corner in the depth chart.
