Magic Haynes commits to ASU football as Sun Devils’ first DL of 2027 class

The Arizona State Sun Devils added to their 2027 recruiting class Monday with the addition of defensive lineman Magic Haynes, he announced on Instagram.

Haynes is not ranked by 247 Sports, but Rivals views him as a three-star recruit. The defensive lineman also had offers from five other West Coast universities, including Arizona, Boise State and San Diego State.

The 6-foot-5, 270-pound commit is from Compton Centennial High School in California and took an official visit to ASU on Friday.

Magic was in the air in Tempe this weekend, and the Sun Devils won over Haynes’ commitment.

Haynes is the Sun Devils’ 11th recruit in the 2027 class, but the first on the defensive line. ASU has three other defensive commits in the class (two cornerbacks and a linebacker).

The Compton product is the Sun Devils’ third 2027 class commit in June and the second in the last week.

ASU’s 2027 class is ranked No. 54 nationally and ninth in the Big 12.
