Arizona State junior safety Chris Edmonds showed concentration and hand-eye coordination watching the football bounce of a teammate’s foot and toward his left hand Thursday against Northern Arizona.

In the third quarter of a 40-3 Arizona State victory, NAU quarterback R.J. Martinez threw deep into tight coverage. ASU redshirt sophomore cornerback D.J. Taylor leaped up and knocked the ball away, but it kicked off his foot and popped back up.

Edmonds stuck out his left arm and watched the ball into his hand before pulling it in near the 50-yard line.

The Samford transfer took the ball down the sideline for a touchdown, although it was called back due to a holding penalty on Omarr Norman-Lott.

ASU had an interception returned for a touchdown called back by a flag in the first half, too. The score by safety Kejuan Markham was erased by multiple Sun Devils jumping offside.

The Edmonds interception counted, unlike Markham’s, even if the touchdown did not.

The Sun Devils used the field position awarded by the takeaway to get three more points off a Carter Brown field goal.
