Cardinals players take part in bike-riding tradition at Packers joint practice

The Arizona Cardinals did much more than attend a joint practice with the Green Bay Packers on Wednesday.

The Arizona Cardinals saw the full scope of what joint practice with the Green Bay Packers entails on Wednesday.

On top of getting some good work in against another team before their preseason finale on Friday, Arizona also took part in Green Bay’s annual bike-riding tradition to and from practice.

Safety Budda Baker found a fellow Washington Husky, while tight end Trey McBride likely gave his kid’s parents a little bit of a scare for the seating arrangements.

Center Hjalte Froholdt decided to go the scooter route, which was probably the move for offensive and defensive linemen alike.

And no, it’s not known if Andrew “Big Bill” Billings found a big enough bike to make the trek to practice.

Rookie running back Jeremiyah Love also got some pedaling in after practice. A good sign of where he’s at in his recovery from a high ankle sprain?

What is the Green Bay bike tradition the Cardinals took part in?

Dating back to former head coach Curly Lambeau’s tenure in the 1960s, the bike-riding tradition has been a staple for joint practices in Green Bay.

Players from both sides borrow children’s bikes to ride to and from practice. The kids aren’t left in the dust, typically walking alongside the players holding helmets or other gear.

It was an odd comment indeed as Vince Lombardi was coach of the packers for most of the 60's. The last year Curly Lambeau coached the team was 1949 ...
Also, a quick google search revealed the bike riding actually started with a few players and kids in 1958 and then became a popular thing in 1959 under rookie head coach Vince Lombardi ...
You would think a journalist would be able to get details like that correct ...?

If for no other reason than this tradition the Packers are the best franchise in professional sports. But did the article really say, “This tradition started in the 1960s under head coach Curly Lambeau”? Uh, ever heard of Vince Lombardi?
