Jacoby Brissett could be fined if he misses minicamp. How much could he lose?

It remains to be seen whether Arizona Cardinals quarterback Jacoby Brissett will make his way back to the team for next week’s mandatory minicamp.

Monday is a big moment in Brissett’s contract negotiations with the franchise.

After missing the entirety of voluntary offseason work, Brissett can now start being fined for his absences.

A look at the fines — which increase with each day missed — that the team can levy against Brissett for any absences next week:

– One day: $17,986
– Two days: $35,973
– Three days: $53,952

– Entire minicamp missed: $107,911

For Brissett, who wants a raise that pays him as Arizona’s starter and is guaranteed just $1.5 million this season, leaving money on the table due to missing mandatory work seems counterproductive.

There’s also the very real possibility Brissett doesn’t get a new deal. Gardner Minshew II has looked comfortable leading the offense in Brissett’s absence and has earned rave reviews from teammates and coaches.

And one way or another, rookie Carson Beck is going to see the field in 2026. The leverage might have already dried up for Brissett at this point.

The other avenue Jacoby Brissett can consider amid contract negotiations

Even with little to no leverage, there is another route Brissett could take amid ongoing negotiations.

While a holdout includes dealing with fines, which a team may or may not cover depending on the outcome, a hold-in keeps Brissett’s money in his pocket while still sending a message.

That would mean the quarterback is in attendance for the camp but refraining from any team activities.

It’s not just about whether Brissett shows up on Monday. It’s about seeing just how much the veteran does on the field if he does.
