Jacoby Brissett links up with Cardinals playmakers for offseason workout

Arizona Cardinals quarterback Jacoby Brissett’s ongoing contract negotiations with the team haven’t stopped the veteran from connecting with some of his playmakers this offseason.

Wide receivers Marvin Harrison Jr. and Simi Fehoko, tight ends Trey McBride and Elijah Higgins and quarterback Kedon Slovis visited Brissett for a few days in south Florida recently, the veteran signal caller posted on his Instagram story.

“Great week with the guys,” the caption read.

The post comes less than two weeks out from the start of Cardinals training camp.

The work they put in together was some of the first offseason reps Brissett has had with any Cardinals pass catchers as he postures to be paid as Arizona’s starter.

Brissett, who does not have an agent, stayed away from Arizona’s voluntary work this offseason. And although he was present for mandatory minicamp, he did not participate in the lone practice day.

Despite the murkiness surrounding Brissett’s contract negotiations with the team, he remains the expected Week 1 starter for the franchise.

In addition to his established connection with McBride and wide receiver Michael Wilson, who are coming off career seasons with Brissett running the offense, the quarterback also gives head coach Mike LaFleur a veteran option who “looks the part” for what the offensive-minded coach wants at the position.

But how long he holds that title after the season opener is anyone’s guess given the team’s need to see what it has in rookie Carson Beck ahead of a potentially loaded quarterback class in the 2027 NFL Draft.

Gardner Minshew II, meanwhile, has taken the majority of first-team reps throughout the offseason while Brissett remained away.

It didn’t take long for Minshew to engrain himself with the team, either, making him another starting option for Arizona to consider in 2026.
