Kyler Murray reportedly named Minnesota Vikings starting QB

Former Arizona Cardinals starting quarterback Kyler Murray was reportedly named the Minnesota Vikings’ starting quarterback, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.

Murray beat out J.J. McCarthy to win the starting job in Minnesota.

Murray was officially released by the Cardinals at the start of the new league year after seven seasons and one playoff appearance with the Cardinals. The 2019 No. 1 overall pick went 38-48-1 during his time in Arizona. Murray made two Pro Bowls and was named NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year.

Last season, Murray played in five games and posted a 2-3 record. He was placed on injured reserve with a midfoot sprain suffered in a Week 5 loss to the Tennessee Titans.

Arizona turned to Jacoby Brissett for the rest of the year, and Brissett made 12 starts (1-11). He returns as Arizona’s starter this season after a renegotiated deal.
