Burress an intriguing, risky fit for St. Louis Rams

Plaxico Burress has not played NFL football since 2008, but the former New York Giant is generating interest now that he’s been released from prison.
One team that seems like a good fit is the St. Louis Rams, who are coached by former Giants coordinator Steve Spagnuolo. Teaming him with Sam Bradford could be a great move — or not.
“No way am I bringing in Plaxico Burress when Sam Bradford is blossoming before our very eyes,” Sports 620 KTAR’s Ron Wolfley said, provided Burress has not changed since his incarceration.
But if he has, Sports 620 KTAR’s Doug Franz notes, then the Bradford/Burress combination could be pretty impressive. The idea, he says, should maybe be discussed with the quarterback himself.
“On something as important as the wide receiver that could determine whether or not you are a division champion or whether your entire growth is stunted, do you let him get to know Plax and ask him what do you think,” he wondered.
Ultimately it may come down to the fact that Burress could really help a Rams team that, while much improved last year, could afford to surround Bradford with more play-makers.
“Think about what Plaxico Burress could possibly bring to the St. Louis Rams, a team that did not have a go-to receiver last year,” Wolfley said. “What they need is a Red Zone guy, a guy that can go up and get the ball, and that has always been Plaxico Burress’ strength.
“That would be a perfect fit for the St. Louis Rams, no denying that.”
