The Arizona Cardinals announced Wednesday that they have re-signed linebacker Philip Wheeler.

The nine-year NFL veteran has 513 tackles, 133 games and 66 starts for the Colts, Raiders, Dolphins and Falcons on his resume. Last season for Atlanta, he recorded 28 tackles in 16 appearances.

He spent the preseason with the Cardinals before being released prior to Week 1 due to his salary situation.

Wheeler was re-signed by the team on Sept. 11, then released last Friday.

With the recent release of tight end Jim Dray, the Cardinals had an open roster spot available for Wheeler.
