Celebrating the Phoenix Suns’ 50th season as a franchise is also about celebrating the community that has thrived and grown with the team throughout its existence.

On that note, the Suns announced Wednesday they have launched a special project that highlights basketball, Valley culture and art.

“The Sole of PHX” is an over-sized high-top sneaker art exhibit that involved different Phoenix-area artists hoping to capture local culture, and memorable times, people and places in Suns lore. The art pieces are displayed throughout the Valley.

At the end of the season, the Suns will auction off the sneaker art with proceeds benefiting Phoenix Suns Charities.

To learn more about each piece, visit the Suns’ website for information about the artists and what inspired each piece.

The list of participating artists and their sneaker locations include: Former Phoenix Suns legends Dick and Tom Van Arsdale (Talking Stick Resort Arena), Thomas Breeze (Talking Stick Resort), Isaac Caruso (City Hall and Luke Air Force Base), Timothy Chapman (Phoenix Zoo), Curt Condrat (Harkins at Crossroads Town Center), Estevan Curiel (Tempe Marketplace), Bill Dambrova (Desert Ridge Marketplace), Gabriel and Isaac Fortoul (Encanto Park and the Light Rail Station at Central Avenue and Roosevelt Street) Gilda Garza (Legends Entertainment District), JB Snyder (Mesa Arts Center), Robert Vargas (Westgate Entertainment District, and the corner of Fifth Ave and Drinkwater Boulevard in Scottsdale) and grafitti artist Clyde (corner of Mill Avenue and University Drive in Tempe).

Fans with the official Suns mobile app can scan a code accompanying each piece to unlock prizes, content and achievements. Prizes include tickets, Suns Team Shop discounts and more.
