Williams (7-3), a veteran of Florida-based fight promotions such as the CFA and XFC, is coming off back-to-back first-round knockout victories over Gabe Maldonado and former Bellator MMA and WEC veteran Rafael Dias. This gives the heavy-handed Williams six career stoppage victories with five of them coming in the opening round.
Beal (8-0), who will also be making his UFC debut, is coming off a second round knockout victory over Keith Carson at BAMMA USA – Badbeat 12 last month. UFC fans will remember Beal from season 18 of The Ultimate Fighter. After earning his spot in the house by winning his elimination fight, Beal became the first pick for Team Rousey. ‘The Real Deal’ would go on to lose to eventual show winner Chris Holdsworth in the quarterfinals.
UFC 172 is set to take place April 26 at Baltimore Arena in Maryland. A light heavyweight title fight between pound-for-pound kingpin Jon Jones and the powerful Glover Teixeira will serve as the night’s main event.
