Devin Booker projected to be out 2-3 weeks with left adductor strain

LISTEN: Ryan McDonough, Suns' General Manager

Suns guard Devin Booker is projected to miss two to three weeks after straining his left adductor Tuesday night in a loss to the Toronto Raptors.

Suns general manager Ryan McDonough broke the news on 98.7 FM Arizona’s Sports Station’s Burns & Gambo.

“Without getting too much into it I would classify it is a moderate sprain,” McDonough said Wednesday.

“Last night was obviously scary.”

Preliminary tests showed Booker strained his left adductor while playing defense with 2:40 left in the fourth quarter. Booker froze in place near midcourt, and trainers came out to examine him before two teammates carried him off the floor and into the locker room.

A team staffer had to help Booker limp to his stall in the locker room after being examined. Booker declined to speak to reporters.

Booker is averaging 24.3 points, 4.1 assists and 4.6 rebounds per game this year.

Phoenix could turn to rookie Josh Jackson or backup shooting guard Troy Daniels to start in place of Booker.

“I think both of our point guards, Tyler Ulis and Mike James, will have potentially more of an opportunity,” McDonough said.

“I think Josh Jackson will be thrust into a bigger role. I think Josh has played pretty well lately, especially on the defensive end of the floor.”
