The NFL announced Friday that 15 teams would receive compensatory draft choices in this year’s draft. The Arizona Cardinals earned three of the 32 compensatory draft picks, including the earliest compensatory pick in the third round.
Compensatory draft picks are based on how many compensatory free agents a team losses. The Cardinals are eligible since they lost six compensatory free agents and only gained three.
The draft picks Arizona received Friday were the No. 97 overall pick landing in the third round, the No. 134 pick landing the fourth round and the No. 254 pick in the final, seventh round.
The Cardinals’ original fourth-round pick was traded last year in a deal with the Chicago Bears. In that deal, arizona moved up in the second round and selected Budda Baker. While the Cardinals don’t have their own pick in that round, they will still be selecting in the fourth with one of its compensatory picks.
Arizona will not have a sixth-round pick, as they traded it to the New Orleans Saints last season for Adrian Peterson.
The updated list of the draft picks the Arizona Cardinals now have one pick in the first, second, fourth, fifth and seventh rounds, and two picks in the third round. The upcoming NFL Draft will start April 26 in Arlington, Texas.
