After spending time back home in Florida, Arizona Coyotes head trainer Dave Zenobi was back with the team for Saturday’s matchup with the Ottawa Senators.
Zenobi left the team on Feb. 14 following the news of a shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Fla., where his son, Joey, attends.
A former student of the school opened fire in the hallways that afternoon, leaving 17 students and faculty members dead.
Joey was at the school at the time of the shooting, but was unharmed.
Zenobi traveled home to spend time with his son, and just days after the shooting, watched Joey and the rest of the Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School hockey team capture the state championship.
On Saturday night, Zenobi continued to honor those lost in the shooting, wearing a sleeve on his left arm with the letters “MSD.”
Zenobi is in his first season as head athletic trainer for the Coyotes. Prior to this year, he spent 10 years as the head athletic trainers for the Florida Panthers.
