Former Phoenix Suns center Alex Len is reportedly finalizing a deal with the Atlanta Hawks, according to Yahoo! Sports’ Shams Charania.
The big man is expected to make $8.5 million over the next two years with the Hawks.
The Suns made the decision not to re-sign Len and point guard Elfrid Payton, formally renouncing their rights as the start of NBA free agency began. By doing so, the team was able to open up about $17 million in cap space, which was used to get Trevor Ariza.
Len, the fifth overall pick in the 2013 NBA Draft out of Maryland, averaged 8.5 points and 7.5 rebounds per game and appeared in 69 contests for the Suns in 2017-18.
Over five seasons with Phoenix, Len played in 335 games (140 starts) and averaged 7.2 points, 6.5 rebounds and 1.0 blocks per game.
The center signed a one-year, $4.2 million qualifying offer to return to the Suns last summer.
Len heads to a Hawks team that went 24-58 last season, last place in the Eastern Conference.
With Len in Atlanta, the Suns have Deandre Ayton, Tyson Chandler and recently-acquired Richaun Holmes at center.
