Former Phoenix Suns forward Alec Peters signed a one-year deal with reigning EuroLeague semifinalist CSKA Moscow on Monday.

The decision resolved an uncertain free agency for the Suns’ 2017 second-round pick who as a rookie made 20 NBA appearances while on a two-way contract.

Peters averaged 4.1 points, 1.9 rebounds and shot 38 percent from the floor in 11.3 minutes per game during 2017-18. In the Suns’ season finale, he finished with a 36-point, nine-rebound outing against the Dallas Mavericks in which he flashed his potential as a stretch power forward by hitting a Phoenix rookie record of eight three-pointers.

The 54th overall pick out of Valparaiso spent most of his rookie season with the G League’s Northern Arizona Suns, where in 35 games he averaged 17.6 points and 7.2 rebounds while shooting 41 percent from three-point range on nine attempts per game.

This summer, Peters played in a reserve role for the NBA Summer League squad in Las Vegas, averaging 6.0 points and 1.4 rebounds in 16.8 minutes per game.

The Suns’ roster currently sits at 16 players, though that number should drop to 15 — the maximum size of an opening day roster — with the expected waiving of veteran forward Darrell Arthur, whose salary came to the Suns in the trade that shipped forward Jared Dudley and a future second-round pick to the Brooklyn Nets last week.

The Dudley deal allowed the Suns to acquire center Richaun Holmes from the Philadelphia 76ers on Friday.

Phoenix will reportedly sign 2018 second-round pick George King to one of its two available two-way contracts for the 2018-19 season.

Two-way contracts do not count toward the 15-player maximum.
