Former Arizona Cardinal Kurt Warner has been studying quarterbacks across the league in his new role with the NFL Network, and he thinks the Cardinals have a nice fit with veteran signal caller Sam Bradford.

As a Hall of Fame quarterback in the NFL, Warner has the credentials to evaluate the league’s quarterback talent.

“Any time Sam has had protection around him and a system that fits his skill set which is see things and get the ball out of your hands, he’s thrived,” Warner said on 98.7 FM Arizona’s Sports Station Bickley & Marotta.

The Cardinals new system is devised by first-year offensive coordinator Mike McCoy. The Cardinals will implement a more traditional offense in 2018, including the re-introduction of a fullback.

“My impression watching him over the last couple years and talking to people around Cardinals camp, he’s the guy,” said Warner.

Early signs show that Bradford’s has shown confidence in running the Cardinals’ offense.

But, with any conversation regarding Bradford injuries are always the primary issue. He’s performed phenomenally well the previous two seasons when he’s been on the field, including setting an NFL passing accuracy record.

“Over the last couple of years when he’s played he was good as anyone in the NFL,” said Warner. “There’s always the caveat, can he stay healthy? Will he be on the field? How much can he be on the field?” said Warner.

The Cardinals will take things slowly with Bradford as he continues to rehab from last season’s ACL injury. Arizona does feature a good amount of depth at the quarterback position with veteran Mike Glennon and rookie Josh Rosen.

But for the time being, the Cardinals and Warner are optimistic about what a healthy Bradford can do for the team.
