Suns guard Leandro Barbosa suffers left hand fracture, no timetable for return

Brought in back in January to provide some offensive firepower given the absence of Eric Bledsoe, veteran guard Leandro Barbosa has unfortunately battled injury throughout his return to Phoenix.

In mid-January, the ‘Brazilian Blur’ missed two games due to a shoulder injury. At the end of last month, he sat out another four games because of a sprained big toe. Yet, those ailments seem to be the least of his problems now.

Barbosa, who returned to the second unit in the Suns’ 129-120 victory over the Atlanta Hawks Sunday, was injured drawing a charge on Chris Paul at the end of Tuesday night’s first quarter.

According to the organization, Barbosa suffered a left hand fracture. While the injury won’t require surgery there is no timetable for his return.

With that said, head coach Jeff Hornacek mentioned in his post-game press conference that he expects the 31-year-old to be out upwards of six weeks.

In 20 games this season, Barbosa was averaging 7.5 points, 1.9 rebounds and 1.6 assists per game.
