Snapshot: Owings nearly blows it

Micah Owings made this photo possible. The D-backs reliever and closer came in with a seven-run lead in the ninth inning. When he was pulled with one out remaining, the D-backs lead was cut to three runs. Not the best way to close a game. Colorado Rockies starting pitcher Esmil Rogers looked to be throwing a bit of a tantrum when he was pulled in the sixth. Hey champ, you're losing. Why would they keep you in? Sometimes you only need one run to get an inning going and Geoff Blum took care of that. In the top of the sixth, Blum blasted a solo homer that contributed to four total runs scored in the inning. Justin Upton jacked his 27th homer of the season, setting a new career-high for home runs in a season. Apparently the Rockies took offense, as Upton was drilled with a pitch in the sixth inning. That's 17 on the year. Wade Miley got his third straight win on Monday. The young pitcher looked good and handled himself well. Of course, getting 10 runs of support doesn't hurt.
