Strong turnout for Kelly Oubre Jr.’s #ValleyBoyz pop-up shop in Phoenix

PHOENIX — Phoenix Suns fans were given a great chance to have a moment together as a community before the season started and they did not disappoint.

Kelly Oubre Jr. had his first-ever pop-up shop to sell his #ValleyBoyz merch and by the time fans were let in at 3 p.m., there were roughly 500 in line at The Manor in Phoenix and many more would come throughout the event.

A trio of fans arrived at 3:30 a.m. and waited nearly 12 hours to get to be the first able to shop. Oubre made sure to reach out to them before arriving and gave them some extra merch with a picture too.

“It’s about the city,” Oubre said of the event. “Everybody coming out, showing love to the squad and the Valley Boyz.”

Fans were slowly allowed inside the shop and were able to purchase merch, ranging from hats, bags, shirts, hoodies, pants and sweats, with 100% of the proceeds going to UNICEF and Deandre Ayton’s hurricane relief efforts for the Bahamas.

Everyone who got into the store was able to sign a Valley Boyz poster.

There was plenty of involvement from the Suns, even though the event wasn’t run through the team.

The Suns’ Gorilla gave a high five to every fan in line before the store opened, Suns cheerleaders took photos with some of the first fans in and a handful of Oubre’s teammates showed up.

From Aron Baynes and Cam Johnson handing out free swag to Jalen Lecque and Cheick Diallo signing the #ValleyBoyz poster, nearly all of the Suns’ roster rolled through to support Oubre and greet fans.

If you’re noticing a handful of those players in a specific Valley Boyz hoodie, Oubre had one customized for each player with their number on the back.

The family on the back where a player’s last name usually resides on a jersey was intentional.

“We’re a family,” Oubre said.
