If you look up the definition for “sack machine,” you’ll most likely find a picture of Chandler Jones.

With 4.0 sacks on Russell Wilson, the linebacker surpassed his own franchise record for sacks in a single season with 19.0 in Sunday’s 27-13 victory over the Seahawks.

“Chandler, what a phenomenal game he had getting after the passer,” head coach Kliff Kingsbury told 98.7 FM Arizona’s Sports Station’s Paul Calvisi after the game. “Just really excited for that defense, two weeks in a row [it] really had great performances.”

Since coming over in a trade with the New England Patriots, Jones has been the anchor of the defense.

Since 2016, Jones has recorded at least 11 sacks as a member of the Cardinals, included two record-setting years of 17 and 19 sacks in 2017 and this season, respectively. With 60 total sacks in four seasons, Jones is easily one of the most productive players at his position.

“Everybody loves what he’s about,” Kingsbury told Calvisi. “He smiles every day, he’s got great juice, great energy and he gives you everything he’s got on Sundays. he’s definitely a team favorite with everything he brings to the table.”

With his second four-sack game of the season, Jones joins Reggie White and Karl Mecklenberg as the only players in NFL history with multiple four-sack efforts in a season.

Behind Jones, the defense was a big factor for the Cardinals on Sunday, holding Seattle’s MVP candidate to just 169 yards and a score.

“Credit to our team, we did a good job of preparation,” Jones told Calvisi. “I couldn’t have done it without my teammates and coaches. Credit to all of us for sure.”

He didn’t stop there, either, forcing his seventh and eighth fumbles of the season, the most ever by any Cardinal in a season. His 27 forced fumbles since 2012 are the most in the NFL. He joins Robert Mathis (2013) as the only players to record at least 19 sacks and eight forced fumbles in a season.

In addition to the sack total and forced fumbles, Jones recorded six tackles, two of which were for losses, and six QB hits. His quarterback hurries total (9) is tied for the second-most by any pass rusher in a game this season.

Joining Jones in the sack column was fellow linebacker Cassius Marsh Sr., who had one sack on the afternoon.
