Richard Marshall to visit with Miami

Mar 14, 2012, 1:46 AM | Updated: 3:36 am

Free agent defensive back Richard Marshall was a tremendously valuable part of Ray Horton’s revamped defense last season. In fact, Horton anointed Marshall his defensive MVP.

So it’s not surprising that Marshall is already garnering interest on the free agent market.

In 2011, Marshall had 78 tackles and 3 interceptions for the Cardinals. He was efficient both in pass coverage and run defense. Marshall’s versatility was another key reason why he was such an important cog in Horton’s scheme. Marshall played a number of positions on defense, including corner and safety, when needed.

The Cardinals expressed interest in bringing Marshall back into the fold next season, but they are going to have to compete for his services with the other teams, including the Dolphins, that surely covet him.
