The Supreme Court of the United States legalized sports betting in 2018 and with Super Bowl Sunday around the corner, what better way to celebrate that decision than making the most random bets bookmakers across the country could come up with.
Multiple betting platforms offer up the chance for people to bet on everything from the game’s winner and loser, to the coin toss and even which songs will be played at the halftime show.
We’ve provided a breakdown of a few of the wildest prop bets we could find from OddsShark.com:
Coin Toss
Yes, you can bet on the coin toss. You can bet which side of the coin is chosen, what side the coin lands on and what team will win the coin toss. All bets can be made at -105 odds, meaning that you must risk $105 to win $100.
Gatorade
You can bet on what color Gatorade will be dumped on the winning coach of the Super Bowl. Want some insight? Thanks for asking. Four out of the last 10 Gatorade showers have been Orange, which is the fourth favorite at +800 odds. Blue (twice), yellow and purple have also been used in the last decade. Purple is the odds-on favorite at -150. Red, which is a color both Super Bowl teams have in common is the second favorite at +350. No team has dumped red Gatorade on its coach since colored-Gatorade-bath stats apparently started being tracked back in Super Bowl XXXV.
National Anthem
Demi Lovato is singing the National Anthem in Miami this year. The over-under was set at 1 minute and 55 seconds for her to get through the whole rendition. She has a history of singing National Anthems. She belted out a 2 minute and 12 second Anthem before the Conor McGregor-Floyd Mayweather boxing match in 2017. Lovato clocked in at 1 minute and 58 seconds to start Game 4 of the 2015 World Series. The Super Bowl is a different animal, however. The last two Super Bowl National Anthems were sung by Pink and Gladys Knight and both clocked in under 1 minute and 55 seconds.
Halftime Show
This could really be its own story. OddsShark lists 29 prop bets just for the halftime show alone. Jennifer Lopez and Shakira are the headliners. You can bet on who will make a guest appearance from Enrique Iglesias, DJ Khaled, Gloria Estefan, Marc Anthony, Pitbull, Ricky Martin, Rihanna or Will Smith. You can bet on which songs the singers will play. You can bet on who they decide to put the camera on between Alex Rodriguez, Gerard Pique or Jay-Z. You can bet on if J-Lo or Shakira will twerk. You can even bet on whether or not there will be a song performed in Spanish.
Exotics
If you think President Donald Trump will attend the game, you can bet on it. You can also bet on how many tweets Trump sends on Super Bowl Sunday and whether or not the winning team will visit the White House.
MVP
Quarterbacks have won seven of the last 10 Super Bowl MVP awards and understandably, Patrick Mahomes (+115) and Jimmy Garoppolo (+275) are the two favorites to win the MVP this year. If you want to take a long shot, former Arizona Cardinals’ Tyrann Mathieu (+5000) and Terrell Suggs (+30000) offer a pretty nice return on investment.
Player Props
You can also place bets on individual players. Who will have the most receiving yards? How many touchdowns will Mahomes throw for? How many yards will Raheem Mostert rush for? How far will the first punt of the game go? I mean it’s the Super Bowl, why not bet on punting?
