Major League Baseball’s spring training hats for 2020 were revealed on the Dicks Sports Goods website Tuesday.
SportsLogos.net’s Chris Creamer confirmed that the New Era hats with fresh logos are the ones that will be worn during game action this spring.
There’s one difference: The hats posted to sell on Dick Sporting Goods are 39THIRTY stretch-fit versions of the hats. According to Creamer, the MLB players will wear the traditional 59FIFTY style of hat.
Most of the hats’ logos feature a team logo within the letter logo. For example, the Arizona Diamondbacks’ hat is black with the traditional block A logo that features a red and black diamondback holding a baseball inside its borders.
The D-backs hats also feature the snake head logo on the side and a Cactus League “AZ” logo on the backs.
Unique variations include the Chicago White Sox logo of a batter with the letters S-O-X stitched through it and the Toronto Blue Jay bird residing inside a Canadian maple leaf (the standard logo includes a smaller maple leaf on top of the bird).
“We wanted to have some fun so we centered the designs around each team’s individual logo”, Tim Shanahan, director of baseball at New Era, told SportsLogos.Net. “To do that, we decided to combine each team’s authentic cap logo with its alternative logo, which created a never-before-seen design.”
