Injuries have been a theme for the Phoenix Suns during the 2019-20 campaign.

On Monday, the team announced the status of both forward Cameron Johnson and big man Frank Kaminsky for the rest of the year.

Johnson will be sidelined due to mononucleosis and is scheduled to be re-evaluated in two weeks.

Kaminsky remains out indefinitely as he continues to progress from a right patella stress fracture.

He will have a follow-up consultation this week.

Johnson, the 11th pick who Phoenix selected after trading down in the 2019 NBA Draft, is averaging 8.1 points and 2.9 rebounds per game while shooting 40% from three-point range. His role expanded once starting forward Kelly Oubre Jr. went down with a meniscus tear on Feb. 24.

Kaminsky has been out since Dec. 28 and averaged 11.0 points, 4.9 rebounds and 2.2 assists per game. He played in 32 games with 13 starts before going down with the patella injury.

The Suns have 18 games left on the docket over the next five weeks as the regular season comes to an end on April 15. They forge on also without Oubre, who will be re-evaluated at the end of March after undergoing surgery on his meniscus. Meanwhile, starting center Deandre Ayton is recovering from an ankle sprain.

Phoenix takes the court next on Tuesday in Portland against the Trail Blazers. Tip-off is scheduled for 7 p.m. Catch all the action on 98.7 FM Arizona’s Sports Station.
