The Arizona Cardinals have signed offensive lineman Koda Martin, days after he was waived by the Los Angeles Chargers.
The signing adds one more bit of depth to an offensive line group that lost right tackle Marcus Gilbert, who announced Tuesday that he was opting out of the 2020 football season because of the coronavirus pandemic. To date, Gilbert is the only known Cardinals player to opt out.
Martin, who played college football at both Texas A&M in the SEC and Syracuse in the ACC, was an All-ACC Third Team selection as a senior in 2018.
Martin eventually became an undrafted free agent with the Chargers in 2019 and was cut by the L.A. team on Saturday.
Listed as a tackle, Martin joins Justin Murray, 2020 third-round pick Josh Jones and recent signee Kelvin Beachum as a few of the options at tackle in Gilbert’s absence.
Gilbert, a second-round pick in 2011, has played just 12 games in the last three seasons because of injury. Last year, his first with Arizona, he didn’t see the field at all.
Arizona adds Martin after having released three undrafted rookies on Monday.
