The Arizona Coyotes officially hired Brian Daccord as special assistant to the GM and director of goaltending operations on Friday.

Daccord previously served as a goaltending consultant to the Toronto Maple Leafs for four years.

His hiring was made officially in a release from the team on Friday afternoon, marking the first front office hire for new GM Bill Armstrong.

Jake Goldberg, who served as an assistant to the GM, is no longer with the team, according to Arizona Sports’ John Gambadoro.

Daccord has also worked as a goaltending coach for the Boston Bruins, Adler Manheim of the Deutsche Elshockey Liga in Germany and at St. Anselm College in New Hampshire.

He also served as an assistant coach at Merrimack College in New Hampshire from 1992-94.

Armstrong commended Daccord’s work with the Maple Leafs’ goalies in the team’s release.

“We are very excited to welcome Brian to the Coyotes,” Armstrong said in the release. “Brian will be a tremendous asset for us. He is an extremely knowledgeable hockey person and a goaltending expert. He joins us from the Toronto Maple Leafs where he had a huge impact on their organization. Brian has a great work ethic and is a man of integrity. Adding him to our club was a top priority and he will be instrumental in helping us change our culture here.”
