The Arizona Cardinals signed linebacker Reggie Gilbert to the team’s practice squad on Wednesday.
The former Arizona Wildcat is in his fourth NFL season. Last year with the Tennessee Titans, Gilbert appeared in 11 games (five starts), recording 22 tackles, a sack and three QB hits.
Gilbert entered the league as an undrafted free agent with the Green Bay Packers in 2016. He played a total of 18 games from 2017-18 for Green Bay, registering 40 tackles, five for losses, 3.5 sacks, 11 QB hits, two pass deflections and a fumble recovery.
The linebacker was traded to the Titans in 2019.
The addition helps add depth to a linebacker room that has been hit with injuries recently, most notably outside linebacker Chandler Jones.
Jones will miss the remainder of the season with a biceps injury. Fellow linebacker Kylie Fitts missed Monday night’s primetime matchup with the Dallas Cowboys with a hamstring injury. LB Dennis Gardeck, who was limited with a foot injury leading into the game, was able to suit up.
The signing comes after the Cardinals released safeties Kentrell Brice and T.J. Ward and cornerback Jalen Davis from the practice squad on Tuesday.
Additionally, the team re-signed offensive lineman Rick Leonard to the practice squad and activated running back D.J. Foster and tight end Justin Johnson from the practice squad injured reserve.
