Report: Ex-Sun Amar’e Stoudemire joining Steve Nash, Nets coaching staff

Don’t look now, but former Phoenix Suns Amar’e Stoudemire and Steve Nash are joining forces once again.
But this time in Brooklyn.
Stoudemire has agreed to join the Nets head coach’s staff, per The Athletic’s Shams Charania. He will serve as an assistant coach under Nash.
The move marks one of Nash’s first staff hires as the Nets head coach.
The duo spent 2004-10 together as members of the “Seven Seconds or Less” Suns. It was a match made in heaven as Nash took home MVP honors twice in back-to-back years (2005-06), while Stoudemire made five All-Star game appearances.
The pairing could never get over the championship hump in a stacked Western Conference, however, going as far as the conference finals in 2005 and 2010.
Stoudemire played a total of eight seasons with the Suns, averaging 21.4 points, 8.9 rebounds and 1.8 blocks, before Phoenix dealt the big man to the New York Knicks in a 2010 sign-and-trade for a protected second-round draft pick. He was named to his sixth All-Star game during the 2010-11 season.

Stoudemire spent four full seasons with the Knicks before reaching a buyout with the team and joining the Dallas Mavericks in 2015.
The big man later played for the Miami Heat during the 2015-16 season before signing a contract to retire as Knick.
After his NBA playing days, Stoudemire played in the BIG 3 and overseas. As member of Maccabi Tel Aviv in 2020, Stoudemire helped the club win an Israeli League title and was named Israeli League Finals MVP honors.
