Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes was ruled out due to a concussion in the third quarter of Kansas City’s 22-17 victory over the Cleveland Browns in Sunday’s AFC Divisional playoff game.
The defending Super Bowl MVP sustained the injury on a speed option play midway through the third quarter.
With the Chiefs up 19-10 on a 3rd-and-1, Mahomes ran to his right and faked a pitch before getting tackled just short of the first down by Browns linebacker Mack Wilson.

Mahomes would struggle to get up, needing assistance from his teammates to keep his balance.
The QB then went under the infamous blue tent for evaluation and then ran off to the locker room where he was further evaluated, diagnosed and ruled out with a concussion.
Chiefs backup quarterback Chad Henne took over for Mahomes and helped his team hold on to clinch their third straight trip to the AFC Championship Game.
