Cardinals’ Rondale Moore muffs punt return after flag deflects ball

Rondale Moore put his hands up in dismay after he muffed a punt return catch, kicked the loose ball across the field and was saved by his Arizona Cardinals teammates landing on it to earn possession.
It was odd for a player to be putting the blame on someone else for mishandling the Jacksonville Jaguars’ punt — at least until replays indicated that Moore indeed had a lot to complain about.
A penalty for an illegal block above the waist by Arizona’s Deionte Thompson led to a flag on the play, and the physical flag thrown by an official actually deflected off the punted football just before Moore muffed the catch.

When’s the last time you’ve seen that?
Moore made due on his next punt return attempt. He took a 55-yard punt back the other way for a 27-yard return to the Arizona 44-yard line.
That nice field position set up a scoring drive concluded with Kyler Murray rolling out to a wide open left side of the field for a 1-yard walk-in score that put Arizona up 7-0 with 6:42 in the first quarter.
