Suns’ Landry Shamet to start in place of injured Devin Booker vs. Pistons

Landry Shamet will start for the Phoenix Suns against the Detroit Pistons on Thursday night in the first game without Devin Booker due to a hamstring injury.
Shamet has started 69 games in his career but only 16 in the last two seasons after starting 53 in his first two years.
He is averaging 7.3 points per game on 38% shooting in a career-low 18.6 minutes per game. He saw his best numbers scoring over 10 points per game during the 2018-19 season when he averaged 27.8 minutes.
Although Shamet will get the nod tonight, fans could see a larger lineup with forward Cam Johnson over the next few games as Booker is expected to miss time after exiting the game against the Golden State Warriors on Wednesday.

Johnson has only started 20 games in his third year in the NBA so far, but the sharpshooter is enjoying a 39% three-point field goal percentage, up from his 34.9% mark last season.
In the last seven games, the 6-foot-8 winger is averaging 12.0 points per game and shooting 46.2% from three-point range. He also offers versatile defense with another lengthy body to pair with small forward Mikal Bridges.
